Kissing the Hardrock for the third time

Third consecutive Hardrock and third victory, this time shared. After running together for almost 23 hours,Kilian Jornet and the local runner Jason Schlarb decided to cross the line together and be the first to kiss the cherished Hardrock in the American ultra-distance race. The event is among those that featured on the list that Kilian Jornet made when he was 16. In 2014, the Cerdanya athlete won in the San Juan mountains for the first time and set a new course record. This year he returned to enjoy and win, alongside Schlarb, the Hardrock in a time close to the record he set two years ago. Jornet and Schlarb kissed the rock with the engraved logo after racing for 22h58’28’’.“In long-distance runs the most important thing is the...

Zegama es Zegama

Mud, cold and rain continue to play a major role in the Zegama Aizkorri. However, perhaps today they were on Kilian Jornet’s side after he won the Basque event for the eighth time. All expectations were met and the 45km and 2,075 climb, in what Jornet considers “the best mountain marathon in the world”, played its part, allowing the 400 runners to enjoy a technical and very muddy course.  Jornet arrived at Zegama having chosen it as part of brief calendar of only two mountain races. He also arrived unsure of his physical readiness as right up until this week he was skiing in Norway. However, the Aizkorri mountains and the Aratz range were the perfect allies in his victory in a time of 3h50m, just two minutes shy of the record that he himself set in...

Jornet wins the Transcavallo and consolidtes lead in World Cup

Kilian Jornet was the fastest this Friday in the individual event at the Transcavallo, the penultimate event in the mountain skiing World Cup. He demonstrated his good form by completing the circuit, in excellent condition thanks to the recent snowfall, in  01:50.17, faster than second and third placed Anton Plazer and Michele Boscacci. Jornet crossed the line alone, 43 seconds ahead of Plazer, in a race he described as “highly technical” because of its route through the forest. “The race was very technical with downhills in the forest and five uphill stretches,” he said. In the first three ascents Jornet was part of a group of five which included Plazer and Boscacci. But on the fourth ascent he broke away on his own, ensuring victory....

Leadership in the Vertical Race World Cup

Kilian Jornet continues to be in great shape and beat Rémi Bonnet and Anton Palzer in the vertical race held in Switzerland this morning. With this victory, the Catalan athlete has become World Cup leader in its vertical race mode. The 3 km-vertical race of this morning, with a total climb of 668 m, was held in the framework of the Alpiniski, which is also hosting the Ski Mountaineering European Championships. For the first time this year, not all the races held this weekend scored towards the continental title, but only the Individual Race, which took place yesterday, and the Sprint, to be held tomorrow. This year, the Vertical Race scored towards the Ski Mountaineering World Cup. The format of today's race was a bit different from the usual one, and...

Joint victory in Italy

Kilian Jornet finished in first place in the Valtellina Orobie and crossed the finish line alongside Boscacci in a fair play gesture, but organizers gave Jornet the victory after viewing the photo finish. The second individual race of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup was held this morning in Italy. "It was a very technical race in the upper parts. The last descent, which had to be done with the skis in the backpack, was very icy. Boscacci and I were reaching the finish together. We decided that security had to prevail and therefore that we would cross the finish line together, prioritizing fair play," declared Kilian Jornet.

The athlete achieved a victory in the Vertical Race today, after winning the Individual Race yesterday. Jornet has completed the vertical kilometre with a time of 00:26:50, ahead of Rémi Bonnet, second, and Michele Boscacci, third. The weather was kind to skiers in the Vertical Race today, an event in which they had to climb a technical stretch of 730m of altitude difference. "The race was very tough. The legs were suffering from the effort in the Individual race of yesterday. Boscacci set off at a very fast pace and so I stayed close to him and in the second part of the race I gave the best of myself attacking to the full. Seeing that Boscacci...

The third place was for Swiss Werner Marti. The start of the race was delayed to 11:15 am due to bad weather conditions, and the route was also modified: participants had to face four ascents from Coma de Arcalis to Portellas. ‘The route was finally modified for safety reasons and also due to bad weather conditions, and so the race has become very physical, without any technical stretches. Mon bilan Carbone 2015

Here is my Carbon footprint of 2015: 5,550 tonnes. From those, 4 were from traveling. In France, where I live, the average consummation is 6,2 tonnes. On industrial countries is 11 tonnes.  The average worldwide is 4 tonnes.  The individual goal to fight climate change is 2.000 tonnes.  (Here you can calculate yours: http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.aspx )I have the chance to be out (almost) every day, to enjoy the beauty of the nature. I’m not this old but I have seen with my eyes year after year how the glaciers retreat. I live in one of the mountain most scenic places in the world, Chamonix, where during anticyclone periods they recommend to don’t do intense activities or to let the kids play outside down in the valley because...

My Skin. My Life
