Forth kiss to the Hardrock

Kilian Jornet has clocked up his fourth consecutive victory in the Hardrock 100. The ultra-distance race held in the San Juan mountains in Colorado is one of the most famous on the calendar and is also one of the Cerdanya athlete’s favourites.  Jornet completed the 160km (100-mile) race with an overall ascent of 20,132m in a time of  24h 32’, despite running more than three quarters of the race with a shoulder he dislocated at kilometre 21. He opted to continue with his arm in a sling and once again was victorious. Jornet didn’t want to miss out on this classic American event and arrived in Colorado at the beginning of the week barely two weeks after the Mont Blanc Marathon in Chamonix where he showed he was in good shape after his double ascent of...

Kilian Jornet kicks off his season with a victory in a hotly-contested Marathon du Mont-Blanc

Once again, Kilian Jornet put on a shirt number and stood ready and waiting at the starting line of a trail race, less than a month after overcoming the challenge of reaching the summit of Everest twice in under a week. With the number 1 on his chest, Jornet was up against some of the finest runners racing today, in a Marathon du Mont-Blanc with a high competitive standard – in addition to Jornet, the racers included Stian Angermund-Vik (winner of the Zegama marathon), Marc Lauenstein, Sage Canaday, Andy Wacker or Max King. But the athlete from Salomon ended up winning with a time of 3:45:45, after an exciting struggle that lasted the entire route. “It was a really tough race. The standard was so high – there were up to 15 runners on the starting...

Kilian Jornet summits Everest twice in one week without supplemental oxygen.

Kilian Jornet climbed in a single push the north face of Mount Everest (8.848m) for the second time in a week. For this he did not use oxygen nor fixed ropes. Jornet had already reached the summit on 22nd May but stomach cramps had prevented him from completing the route as planned. He said: “I’m so happy to have made the summit again! Today I felt good although it was really windy so it was hard to move fast. I think summiting Everest twice in one week without oxygen opens up a new realm of possibilities in alpinism and I’m really happy to have done it”  One week, two summits Jornet reached the summit via the North Face of Everest on 27th May at 9pm (+5.45GMT). Cho Oyu

We are back after 10 days in Cho Oyu! Emelie Forsberg is returning home to get ready for the trail running season and I will head to Everest.Last year, we got really inspired on how Adrian Ballinger and Emily Harrington managed to travel and climb Cho Oyu in only 2 weeks. We thought we would like to try it, and see how acclimatization affects our body and how high we could go.We choose an 8.000m summit that approximation was accessible, so we could be there quicker than some other mountains. After racing Mezzalama and in only 3 days, we were in the Chinese Base Camp (4.900m). The next day, we climbed to the Advanced Base Camp at 5.600m. We felt good, but the weather wasn’t great. After 9 days, on the 7th of May, we did our attempt, starting from Camp one (6.400m)...

Font Blanca - Andorra

In his tenth season at the top Kilian Jornet has shown that he’s still as motivated as the boy with the Mohican who used to turn up for races in a minivan. For the past three years in Andorra he’s been at the top of the podium and despite some muscle pain this morning he came second in the vertical race event in Arcalís. Yesterday he finished sixth in the individual race. “Both races were great this weekend. The weather and the snow quality have meant we could enjoy these very beautiful and technical courses through the Andorra mountains which we haven’t been able to enjoy for a while and in spite of everything I’m as motivated as ever,” Jornet said. La Font Blanca staged the opening event of the ski...
